"You're getting rid of THAT?!"
I must have heard those words twenty-five times over the last week -- from everyone in my house. I'm sure I would have said it too if I weren't the one organizing the garage sale. But making room for the baby means we have to give up things we've loved (or tolerate, or just hold on to for no good reason) for something we'll love more.
Reluctantly the boys parted with some of their toys. Chad watched some of his "bachelor days" items find a new home, and I even found myself thinking, "maybe I DO still want that" a time or two. Whatever didn't sell wasn't allowed back in the house! We boxed it up and set it aside to be hauled off.
All garage sales are the same.
Sometimes I need a to have a little "heart garage sale". I get so busy with everything in life that after a while, I find myself holding on to things that are of no value, useless and worn and just cluttering my pursuit of Jesus. Nothing rejuvenates my spirit like boxing up a pile of guilt, selfishness and pride and tossing it out to the curb. It sure leaves a clean space for the things you love more!
2 Cor. 7:1 Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

I like your blog Kim! I'm going to have a garage sale this weekend, and I'm sure Casey and I will debate about what needs to go.
Good one Heinecke! Toss it to the curb sista! I won't say of the junk you are getting rid of in your heart..."You're getting rid of that?"
You'd better not, Nat! You're one of the "Monday girls" who actually know the stuff I'm talking about!!
