Happy Birthday Oklahoma!

In honor of Oklahoma's 100th birthday, let's just see how well you know your state emblems...(From The Oklahoman, Sunday 11-11-07) Some you should know, and some...well, are just ridiculous.

1. Amphibian?
2. Bird?
3. Flag Day?
4. Motto?
5. Nickname?
6. Fish?
7. Percussion Instrument?
8. Insect?
9. Floral Emblem?
10. Name meaning?

Good luck!

Big Brothers

Nick and Tate have enjoyed "helping" with Jack. One of them is a great helper...the other one "helps" by messing with his pacifier, his hands, his head, blanket, car seat, sun visor, stroller, etc. I refuse to tell you which one I'm talking about. :)

Seriously, they love Jack and just want to be near him all the time. It's sweet.

It's Me, Jackson...

Hello everyone, it's me, Jackson Heinecke! My mom is typing this as I tell her what to write. My fingers are still so small that getting around the keyboard in a timely manner takes more energy than I can spare right now. (Do you know how exhausting being a baby can be?!) Let me first say how much I have appreciated all the kind words and compliments I've received. Generally I keep my eyes closed and try to be silent when people make a fuss over me. It's an attempt to remain humble but pretty soon I'm going to start showing my real personality with a little more eye-opening action!

The first 8 days of my life have been terrific. I've got these two amazing people called parents that will apparently do anything for me -- they change my diapers, hold me, kiss me and tell me how much they love me. I've got two brothers that just want to be in my face all the time or touch my head and hands. Mix in a couple of grandmas that tell me how handsome I am and speak softly to me and life just can't get any better than this! There are so many other people who have welcomed me this last week too!

My daily schedule goes like this: 1)Eat 2)Sleep 3)Poop. Repeat 8x a day! My favorite part of the day is the morning when I first wake up. I get to snuggle in the big bed with my dad and then my mom feeds me to get the day going. I need that quiet time because LOOK OUT! no one knows what it waiting for me when I step out of that bedroom into the world of "Big Brothers!" A few days ago, Tate leaned in close and whispered, "I'm going to get stuff before you do!" He's really excited about having a little brother to boss around!

If I get all my naps in, I'll take turns with my mom on her blog so you can keep up with me! (I'm precious.)

Practicing to be a Pilot

"Air traffic control, this is JDH2007, ready for take off..."

Yes, it looks like he's practicing to be a pilot but really he's getting his hearing checked. Apparently they play soft noises in each ear and measure the brain activity through the gel-splattered patch on his forehead. ...science...

He can hear fine. (See, he's clearly the smartest baby on the planet...ha/ha)
